Batman The Telltale Series The Movie

I had no idea Telltale was working on a Season 2 already when I started working on this, or that it would be coming so soon, but here's season 1 edited into a movie just in time for the release of Season 2 next month. I hope you enjoy. This isn't a game a see discussed very much, but I really enjoyed it. It had a few technical issues (some you'll see in this despite running on a PC far better than should be required) but the story, voice acting, and music were all fantastic (except for maybe one voice actor I wasn't so sure about)

This took a little longer than I expected, but then again it's basically 5 movies in one. I did consider releasing them in parts, but each movie would have been about an hour long, and since I had already made movies from single games before that were as long or longer than this, and I was really happy with the transitions I was able to make between episodes, so I decided to keep it as a single movie.

If you haven't seen one of my movies before, the main goal of every movie I make is to create something that anybody can understand and enjoy, whether they play games or not. The main focus of my work is on making sure the full story is told, even if that requires not just displaying the cutscenes, but as much gameplay as is necessary to make sure everything makes sense, doesn't lose the viewer, and maintains a good pacing.

Another major focus I also have, that I'm pretty sure is unique to my channel, is that I work really hard to remove anything from the screen that makes it obvious you're looking at a game. Button prompts, loading screens, dialogue choices, cursors, etc, are all entirely removed in this movie. A big part of this is done through visual effects work. I manually remove unwanted elements on screen either through frame-by-frame photoshop removal, or through planar tracking and removal through mocha (or a combination of the two). This is extremely time consuming work, and this movie in particular required 177 VFX shots to remove everything.

One thing I also did with this movie that I haven't done with any other, was combine all the credit sequences from all of the episodes into a single credit scroll, making sure that for example if one person had the same role in all 5 episodes, their name only appeared once for that role, but if, for example, there were different artists listed for each episode, all of those names were listed one time under the same category in the credits. This allowed me to represent every name who worked on every episode of the game, and do so with no repetition (as far as I could tell, although some sections such as "special thanks" were hard to guarantee that as they were so long and weren't sorted alphabetically)

Also, for this movie I decided to use the 2.40:1 aspect ratio, and I custom framed every single shot of the movie, including many shots that had animated framing as well. Considering there are over 6000 shots in the movie total, a good portion of my time was spent making every shot look as good as it could in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio.

For those who may be wondering about my next project, I will be making a movie from Uncharted: The Lost Legacy as soon as I'm done playing that game for myself. After that, if I have enough time before my next major game arrives (Shadow of War) I may actually remake my Last of Us movie in 4K. Perhaps I'll even stream my practice run before then as well, but I'm not sure.

After that, my next movie will almost certainly be Assassin's Creed Origins. Assassin's Creed game movies do tend to take me a while to release, simply because I need to play through the whole thing before starting to record for the movie, so I can't say for sure when that will come out. After that's released, I'm still not sure yet what movie I will make after that. It will depend on how much time I have, but the projects I definitely have planned for the future include Horizon: Zero Dawn, Shadow of War, Telltale Batman Season 2, and eventually The Last of Us 2 whenever that is released (I'd guess another 2 years). The other projects that hold some potential, but I won't decide on until after I play are the Horizon Zero Dawn DLC, God of War 4, Spider-man, and Detroit: Become Human.
