Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Learn how to remove duplicates in Excel - Quick and Easy Solution!

Welcome to another episode of the MrExcel podcast. In this episode, we will be discussing how to remove duplicates in Excel. This is a common issue that many Excel users face, and today we will be showing you a simple solution to this problem.

Recently, I received a question from John, who has attended one of my seminars before. He has a large dataset of 169,000 rows and is struggling with finding duplicate records in one of the columns. He was looking for a VBA solution to remove these duplicates, but I told him that he doesn't need any VBA at all.

The solution to this problem is actually quite simple. First, I confirmed that John was using Excel 2007, as he had a large dataset. This means that he can easily use the "Remove Duplicates" feature under the Data tab. By default, this feature is set to look at all fields, but in this case, we only want to look at one specific column. So, we simply unselect all fields and then re-select the column we want to focus on. With just a few clicks, we were able to remove 77 duplicate values and keep 99 unique values.

You might be thinking that this sounds too good to be true, but thanks to Microsoft and Excel 2007, the "Remove Duplicates" feature is a fast and efficient way to solve this problem.
