Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Prevent Excel Cell Spills: Quick & Easy Method to Keep Values in One Column.
Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! In today's episode, we have a question from David Davidson in Spain. If you have a question for us, you can leave a voicemail at 866-581-0221 or send us an email and we'll feature it in a future podcast. David's question is about long values in Excel cells and how they can spill over into the next column. He's frustrated with having to manually add an apostrophe to prevent this from happening. Is there an easier way? Let's find out!
One solution is to select all the data in the column and turn on wrap text. This will prevent the text from spilling over, but it can result in a messy and hard-to-read layout. Another option is to manually add an apostrophe to each cell in the next column to prevent the spill. However, this can be time-consuming and tedious. But fear not, there is a faster way to do this!
To quickly add an apostrophe to all the cells in the next column, select all the blank cells using the Go To function (F5) and then selecting "Special" and "Blanks". This will highlight all the cells that are currently blank. Then, simply hit the apostrophe key and press enter to add the apostrophe to all the selected cells at once. This will save you time and effort, while still achieving the desired result of preventing spills in the next column.
Thank you, David, for sending in your question and thank you for tuning in to another netcast from MrExcel. Don't forget to leave us a comment or question below and we'll see you next time for more Excel tips and tricks!

David from Spain sends in today's question. When you have a long text cell, it will tend to spill and show up in adjacent blank cells. David notes that you can add an apostrophe to the blank cell to prevent this. In Episode 677, we take a look at a faster way to solve this problem.
