This video describes Earth's rheological layers, the lithosphere, asthenosphere, mesosphere, outer core and inner core. We will explain that with the exception or the outer core, which is liquid, most of our planet is solid because of the very high pressure in the Earth's interior prevents the rocks from melting. We will then concentrate on the difference in rheological behaviour between the lithosphere, which is rigid, and the asthenosphere, which is ductile, and can thus flow and deform even if it is solid.
